Using ingredients available at home can achieve the same. One of the easily available ingredients in every home is “Tomato”. Ever heard of the legendary beauty Sophia Loren? The beauty secret of her flawless and radiant skin was tomato. Let’s talk about its properties that benefit us in skin lightening. How Tomato helps to Lighten the Skin? Tomatoes contain Vitamin A which fades dark spots and blemishes. Vitamin B present in it reduces wrinkles, fine lines and encourages production of healthy new cells. Vitamin C present in it helps to build collagen and maintains skin elasticity. Calcium present in it heals dry and flaky skin. Potassium present in tomato moisturizes and hydrates skin. Magnesium present in it provides glow and radiance to the skin. It helps skin breathe oxygen thus slows down the aging process. How to use Tomato for Skin Whitening: Here we have included some effective methods of using tomato alone or in combinations for skin whitening. Try all methods to find out the best one that suits your skin. 1. Tomato Blend or grate 1 tomato to fine paste. Apply this mixture over the skin. Let it rest for 20 minutes and rinse it off with water. Or consuming raw tomato juice daily in the morning also helps to achieve fairer and even skin tone. Repeat this process daily. 2. Tomato with Lemon Juice In this combination, both tomato and lemons have natural bleaching properties that lighten the skin effectively. Mix few drops of fresh lemon juice in 1 tablespoon tomato juice. Apply the mixture over the skin and let it rest for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water followed by cold water. Follow this process 3 times a week. 3. Tomato Juice with Buttermilk This combination makes an amazing pack to remove sun tan. Mix 2 teaspoons tomato juice and 4 tablespoons buttermilk. Use a cotton ball and apply this mixture over the tanned skin. Leave it for 30 minutes and wash it off with water. On repeating regularly for 3 times a week, you will achieve desired results. 4. Tomato with Avocado Blend 1 tomato and 1 avocado pulp to make a thick paste. Apply this mixture over the skin and let it rest for 20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. If followed regularly, you achieve desired results. 5. Tomato with Sugar This combination makes an amazing scrub which exfoliates the accumulated dead skin and makes skin soft and supple. Blend 1 tomato to a fine paste. Add 2 tablespoons sugar to the tomato paste and stir well. Gently scrub this mixture over the skin for 10 minutes. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water followed by cold water. Repeat this process 3 times a week. 6. Tomato with Yogurt and Oatmeal Mix 1 tablespoon each of tomato juice, yogurt and oatmeal to make fine paste. Apply an even coat of mixture on the skin. After 20 minutes, rinse it off with cold water. Or you can exclude oatmeal and follow the remaining process. To achieve quick results, follow this process 2 – 3 times a week. 7. Tomato with Honey Blend 1/2 tomato to get a smooth puree. Add 1 tablespoon honey to the mixture and stir well. Allow it rest for 15 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. For better results, repeat the process 3 times a week. 8. Tomato with Cucumber Both tomato and cucumber have astringent properties which tighten the large open pores, hydrate and lighten the skin. Blend 1/2 ripe tomato and 1/4 peeled cucumber. Apply this mixture over the skin. After 15 minutes, rinse it off with cold water. Or you add 1 teaspoon of turmeric or honey or orange juice to the mixture and follow the same process. Following this process 2 – 3 times a week will lighten the skin quickly. 9. Tomato with Sandalwood This combination makes an amazing mask to make your skin lighter, fairer and radiant. Blend 1 ripe tomato to a smooth paste. Add 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder and few drops of lemon juice to the tomato pulp. Mix well and apply the mixture over the skin. After 15 minutes, rinse it off with cold water. Continue using this process 3 times a week. 10. Tomato with Olive Oil Mix 4 tablespoons tomato juice and 1 teaspoon olive oil. Apply this mixture over the skin and let it rest for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. To achieve quick results, repeat this process 3 times a week. 11. Tomato with Potato Mix 2 tablespoons each of tomato and potato juice. Apply this mixture over the skin. Let it rest for 15 minutes and rinse it off with cold water. Or Add 1 teaspoon honey to the mixture and follow the same process. Repeat this process daily. 12. Tomato with Orange Lentil and Aloe Vera Tomato contains astringent properties which tone and whitens the skin, orange lentil clears excess oil from the skin and aloe vera hydrates the skin. Soak orange lentil over night and blend it to fine paste in the morning. Or alternatively you can use store brought orange lentil powder. Scoop out gel from aloe vera. Grate 1/2 tomato to a smooth paste. Mix orange lentil (powder or paste), aloe vera gel and tomato pulp and stir together. Apply this paste over the dark skin. Let it rest for 10 – 15 minutes and rinse it off with cold water. Continue using this method 3 times a week to achieve the results. For added benefits add little coconut oil to the mixture. 13. Gram Flour with Tomato In this combination, the astringent properties of tomato lighten the skin while gram flour absorbs excess oil and sebum from the skin. Blend 1 ripe tomato. Combine tomato pulp with 1 tablespoon of gram flour to make a fine paste. Apply an ever layer of the mixture on the skin and let it rest for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water by gently scrubbing with fingers. Or you can also add a pinch of turmeric to the mixture and follow the same process. Following this process 3 times a week lightens and brightens the skin. 14. Tomato with Papaya This combination provides instant glow and radiance to the skin. Combine 2 tablespoons each of papaya and tomato juice. Apply this mixture over the skin and let it rest for 20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. To observe results quickly, follow the process 3 times a week. 15. Tomato with Rice Flour and Fuller’s Earth This combination makes an amazing pack which not only lightens the skin but also reduces excess oil, acne and pimples. Mix 1 teaspoon rice flour, 1/2 teaspoon fuller’s earth and 1 teaspoon tomato juice to make a thick paste. Apply a thick layer over the skin and let it dry. After it completely dries, wash with water. Repeating this method daily to achieve flawless skin. 16. Tomato with Coconut Oil and Turmeric Mix equal quantities of tomato pulp, coconut oil and turmeric. Using fingers gently massage this mixture over the skin. After 10 minutes, let it rest for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. Use this process daily before going to bed. 17. Tomato Skin Whitening Peel This peel will remove accumulate dead skin, absorb oil and lighten the skin. Blend 1 raw tomato to smooth paste. Boil gelatin in 1/2 cup water for few minutes. Add tomato paste to the gelatin, turn of the heat and let it cool down. Add 2 tablespoons manuka honey to it and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Cleanse the skin area you want to apply the mixture. Spread an even layer over the skin and let it rest for 10 – 15 minutes. Gently peel of the mixture in upwards direction. Wash your face with cold water and pat dry. 18. Tomato with Milk The nutrients present in milk and vitamins present in tomato will nourish and lighten the skin. Mix 1/2 cup each of tomato juice and milk. Apply this mixture over the skin. After 20 minutes, rinse it off with cold water. Or you can also use milk powder instead of milk and follow the same process. Continue using this process daily to achieve desired results. 19. Tomato with Coriander and Fuller’s Earth Blend 1 tomato and 1/2 cup coriander leaves to a smooth paste. To this add 4 tablespoons fuller’s earth and mix well by adding little water, if needed. Apply this mixture over the skin. After 20 minutes, wash it off with cold water. Repeat this process 3 times a week. 20. Tomato with Baking Soda This combination helps to lighten the skin, remove dark spots and freckles on the skin. Mix 2 tablespoons tomato juice and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Apply an even layer over the skin. After 15 minutes, wash it off with cold water. Follow this process 3 times a week. 21. Tomato with Almonds Soak few almonds overnight and blend them in the morning. Blend 1 tomato to a smooth paste. Combine tomato paste and almond paste. Apply this mixture over the skin and let it rest for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. Continue using this process 3 times a week. Tidbits to Remember For Skin Whitening: Always use fresh tomato juice instead of bottled ones. Always use ripe tomatoes instead of green or sun dried tomatoes. Reduce intake of tomatoes if you having stones in kidneys. Don’t apply tomato juice if you have cuts, bruises and rashes on the skin.
